Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center
Aquariums, a working fish hatchery, wetlands trails and hands-on fishing make this Athens attraction one of the strongest family outings in the area. Fishing gear and bait are provided for visitors.
High-energy fun
Whatz-Up Family Fun Park
Go-karts, laser tag, bumper cars, mini golf and arcade games give kids plenty to do. The water park is seasonal and geared especially toward younger children.

A simple public lake-day option with a designated swimming area, accessible fishing pier, picnic space and boat ramps on the Cedar Creek causeway.

Purtis Creek State Park
